Bridget has spent the last decade developing her skills across Australia and the UK, including working with people with complex communication needs and lifelong conditions. She is passionate about ongoing evidence-based learning, and has completed additional trainings in various areas, such as, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), Aphasia, Parkinson’s Disease and swallowing rehabilitation.
Bridget has worked in acute and subacute hospitals, community rehabilitation, and community disability services. She also has experience in Victorian public schools and working with culturally and linguistically diverse people. Bridget has worked extensively with adults who have:
Acquired brain injuries, such as stroke and traumatic brain injuries
Degenerative neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease and dementia
Diseases of the Central Nervous System, such as Multiple Sclerosis
Neuromuscular conditions, such as Bell’s Palsy and Guillain-Barre Syndrome
She has also worked in head and neck cancer, palliative care, and disability services for children and adults. She has managed multidisciplinary teams of therapists over the last 8 years, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists and positive behaviour practitioners. She uses this experience to ensure all therapies work together cohesively to achieve the greatest outcomes for clients.
Over the last few years, Bridget has honed her skills in providing services via teletherapy so that therapy can be just as effective and can reach people in more remote locations. She is most passionate about supporting her clients to participate in their communities however they choose, whether that means going shopping, playing sport, working in their dream job or more.
